AUREUS REXDealRoomWhere Commodities Meet Trust
How we built a B2B commodity trading platform that replaces WhatsApp deal-making, unverified counterparties, and chaotic broker chains with anonymized matching, deposit-gated reveals, and 10 orchestrated workflow state machines.
A Market Running on Trust Alone
Multi-million-dollar commodity deals still managed via WhatsApp groups and PDF attachments.
When a Handshake Is All You've Got
International commodity trading (EN590 diesel, Jet A-1 fuel, crude oil) involves transactions worth millions of dollars. Yet the industry still operates on WhatsApp groups, email chains, and PDF attachments passed between brokers who may never have met. Sellers can't verify if buyers are real. Buyers can't confirm product availability. And brokers in the middle have no formal way to lock terms or track commissions.
Aureus Rex was born from a simple observation: the commodity trading market needed a platform that could maintain anonymity while building trust, support complex multi-party broker chains, and enforce deal progression through verifiable milestones, all without requiring either party to reveal their identity until both sides had proven serious intent.
In commodity trading, a deal worth $5M can fall apart because someone's cousin's friend said they had product. We needed a system where verification replaces reputation.
The Hard Problems We Solved
Building trust in a market where anonymity and verification must coexist.
Counterparty Anonymity vs Trust
Both sellers and buyers want to remain anonymous until they're confident the other party is legitimate. But anonymity makes it impossible to verify legitimacy through traditional means.
Anonymized Matching with Tiered Reveal
A scoring-based matching engine pairs offers with demands algorithmically. Identity is revealed only after deposit-gated commitment, ensuring both parties have proven serious intent before seeing who they're dealing with.
Complex Multi-Party Broker Chains
Commodity deals often involve 3 to 5 intermediaries between seller and buyer. Commission splits, principal verification, and chain integrity become exponentially harder with each additional party.
Deal Chain Engine with Position Tracking
Every participant is assigned a typed position (Seller Principal, Sell Broker, Buy Broker, Buyer Principal) with automatic commission calculations and the ability to split or recombine chains as deals evolve.
Document Verification at Scale
Trading counterparties submit documents in dozens of formats, from multiple countries, in different languages. Manual verification is slow, expensive, and error-prone.
AI-Powered Multi-Type Verification
Azure AI Form Recognizer processes five verification categories (identity, authority, proof of funds, proof of product, and company registration) generating trust scores that gate deal progression.
10 Concurrent Workflow State Machines
A single deal can trigger transitions across 10 independent but synchronized workflows. Rollback rules, timeout policies, and cross-workflow consistency must all be maintained atomically.
Orchestrated Finite State Machines
Each workflow (W1–W10) operates as an independent FSM with typed guard conditions, immutable transition logging, and cross-workflow event propagation ensuring atomic consistency across all deal state changes.
Broker Chain Visibility Exploitation
Brokers in commodity chains routinely attempt to identify all parties and cut out intermediaries. Without restricted visibility, every participant can map the entire chain and approach counterparties directly, undermining broker value.
Fog-of-War Broker Privacy
Each broker sees only their immediate adjacent nodes. Chain positions beyond direct contacts are hidden until deal closure, protecting intermediary value and preventing chain bypass attempts.
Everything a Trading Platform Needs
Eleven integrated modules that take a commodity deal from discovery to closure.
Marketplace & Discovery
Browse and filter live commodity offers and demands in an anonymized marketplace. Counterparty identities remain hidden until deposit-gated reveal.
Listings Management
Create detailed offers or demands specifying commodity type, quantity, delivery terms, pricing mechanism, and payment preferences.
Matching Engine
Algorithmic scoring evaluates compatibility across commodity, quantity, delivery, price, and payment, producing a 0-100 composite match score.
Deal Chains & Splits
Model multi-party broker chains with typed positions, automatic commission calculations, and the ability to split or recombine chains.
Multi-Type Verification
Five verification categories processed by AI (identity, authority, proof of funds, proof of product, and company) each contributing to a trust score.
Digital Signatures
Legally binding electronic signatures for NDAs, deal terms, and confirmations with cryptographic integrity verification.
Identity Reveal & Deposit Gating
Counterparty identity is revealed only after a deposit proves serious intent. No more tire-kickers wasting time.
Deposits & Credits
Stripe-powered deposit management with escrow, automatic refunds on failed deals, and credit accumulation for active traders.
Deal Chat
Contextual messaging tied to each deal and workflow stage, with full audit trail stored immutably for compliance.
Broker Chain Privacy
Restricted visibility where each broker sees only adjacent nodes in the chain. Hidden positions are locked until deal closure, preventing chain bypass.
Reputation & Commission Tracking
Formal commission agreements at every chain link with reputation scoring based on completed deals, strike and appeal mechanisms, and counterparty feedback.
From Listing to Closure in 8 Stages
Every deal progresses through a structured lifecycle with guard conditions at each transition.
